My Own Version Of The Hunger Games
Add Me To The Trailer
The hype is huge for the film adaptation of the Hunger Games, a Young Adult novel written by Suzanne Collins.
Signs that fans are eagerly awaiting the film? The 956 "likes" on Facebook and 7,122 followers for @HungerGamesMov on Twitter today are sure indications. The numbers will likely rise as we get closer to the March 23rd date set for release.
With that many followers and likeable people out there, I want to join in. As the plot concerns a death match between randomly selected districts, I'm not so eager to join in on that part.
However I do get hungry and I do like to play games.
My Connection To Hunger And Games
As a youth, I played Monopoly and Scrabble with my parents. Card games were a common way to bond with my grandparents when I went to Vancouver, BC to visit them. I consider myself well-versed in the game arena.
Nowadays, I do get hungry if I miss eating lunch at the usual time of noon. When I have a load of laundry to tend to, I can get distracted from making a meal and my stomach will groan with displeasure. A sure sign I should eat.
This leaves us with a few choices.
Let's Play
Here are a few hunger games that I can play:
- Get out the Monopoly board and every time I land on the "Jail" square I have to stop eating for one hour.
- Keep track of the amount of times my stomach groans in an hour.
- Invite friends over to play cards and lure them with promises of tasty appetizers. Fail to give them any food and listen for their tummies to start to growl in hunger.
Now the question here is whether anyone will pay the price of theatre admission to take part in my own version of the Hunger Games.
I wonder if Collins would write an extra book using my ideas? Game on!
