Swings and Other Fun Things to Do On a Walk

Updated on August 10, 2012

Spring Walks

Warmer days are here now that the spring season has arrived! You are able to peel off some of your clothing layers and step outside for a walk. While you’re on the walk, look around you and see what fun adventures await you!

Smell the Flowers

Notice the flowers in bloom around you as you walk.

Stop to smell their fragrances. Marvel at the beautiful colors that seem to pop during the sunny days of spring.

Take the time to slow down and notice your environment. Doing so will help your mind drift away from any current stressors and instead focus on the here and now. You are living in the present and enjoying the beautiful nature that surrounds you!

Take a Ride on a Swing

Remember the fun times you had on the swings when you were a child? Who says swing sets are just for kids? Defy that way of thinking by hopping on the swings as you walk past a playground.

Sit on the swing and travel back to your childhood. Kick your feet up to take you even higher as you swing and feel yourself fly back and forth through the air. Chances are you will be smiling at the same time!

What fun, forgetting the day’s worries while you take a break during your spring walk.

Sit Down To Relax and Observe

Try taking a few moments to stop and sit on a public bench. Perhaps you will choose the one at the playground or the one you have been eyeing in the local park. Let yourself stop to relax and unwind.

Have fun by watching the people and pets that pass by. You may catch yourself smiling at the small dog that passes you wearing a little sports jersey! People may say hello to you as they make eye contact and you will find yourself breathing a little deeper as you relax.

Marvel at the Sights around You

As you leave the bench and continue your walk, take note of the sights around you. On my walk today, I noted how blue the water looked that was just off the trail where I walked. Perhaps you will notice more about your environment than you normally might on your powerwalk. Focus less on burning calories and more on having fun on your walk!

Try taking your camera with you to capture the interesting sights. Your photo might look fuzzy though if you decide to take it while you’re on the swing set! Have fun while you’re on your walk and enjoy the spring season at the same time!
