Elise Testone Looks Surprised

Actor Jason Segel surprised American Idol Season 11 contestant Elise Testone when he appeared by video to personally offer her encouraging words. On the April 11 television episode, Testone was the last singer of the top seven to perform.

Segel's video followed the on-stage conversation between Testone and Idol host Ryan Seacrest. The contestant explained that she recently saw the movie Jeff, Who Lives at Home , in which Segel is one of the main actors.

Testone then said that she loves Jason Segel's work. She said that after watching him in the film, "I wonder if he ever watches me?"

Her answer came in the form of Jason Segel himself, as he appeared by video message on the large screen centered on the American Idol stage. Testone's jaw dropped when Segel appeared on screen. Segel looked suave in a tuxedo, complete with black bow tie.

The Jason Segel Video

Elise Testone smiled as Segel appeared on the large screen beside her and Seacrest. Segel then began to speak directly to Testone.

Segel told the contestant that he watches American Idol each week. He then said, "I just wanted you to know, I'm a giant fan of yours."

"I think you're amazing," he said to the contestant. He also said, "I'm sitting at home routing for you."

How the Video Originated

Following the end of the video, Seacrest explained that he had emailed Jason Segel a few minutes prior in the show. Segel responded to the email with the personalized video message for Elise Testone.

The video was a kind gesture from the actor. He was able to connect with Testone and appeared genuine in his message. The moment on Idol showed that Segel is still grounded despite his fame as he continues to make time for other people. He is also easy to relate to as he watches television just like many non-celebrities!

Elise Testone's Performance

Following the video, Testone sang Lady Gaga's 2011 hit You and I. The judges gave her rave reviews for the performance. The compliments from Jason Segel may have helped boost Testone's confidence and played a role in how well she performed!

Perhaps Jason Segel will connect with Testone again on another episode. His support for the contestant was unexpected and a highlight for the episode of American Idol.
