Who Is Carly Rae Jepsen?

With summer comes great, upbeat music.

Play pop music in your car, while sipping cold lemonade or dancing at your birthday party! Not sure which music to pick? Try the 2012 album of Carly Rae Jepsen, titled Curiosity.

Curiosity is the second album released from the 26-year-old singer from Mission, British Columbia, Canada. Carly Rae Jepsen may sound familiar as she just signed on to be the opening act for Justin Bieber on his 2012 Believe tour! She will open the shows slotted across North America later this year.

(Okay ladies, I know I mentioned Justin Bieber but you do have to stop your cheering so we can continue!).

A Look at Her Music

Singer Carly Rae Jepson is poised to become a huge music star.

Her first album Tug Of War, released in 2008, includes the radio hit "Sour Candy". Today, her first single "Call Me Maybe" from her latest album is connecting her to a larger audience of pop music fans and increasing her popularity.

The song is the hit single from Carly Rae Jepson's album Curiosity, released on Feb 14, 2012. On that same day, Justin Bieber announced that she was signed to Schoolboy Records. Schoolboy Records is the label run by Bieber's manager Scooter Braun.

Both Justin Bieber and his girlfriend Selena Gomez, who is also a singer, have publicly commented that they love Jepson's pop music. Bieber even Tweeted:

"Call me maybe by Carly Rae Jepsen is possibly the catchiest song I’ve ever heard lol.”

The Pop Sing Is Setting Music Records

Carly Rae Jepson was first seen across Canada in 2007 during the fifth season of Canadian Idol. Jepson placed third in the singing competition. She then joined the Canadian Idol Top 3 concert tour that played locations across Canada.

In 2010, the singer-songwriter received two Juno nominations for Best New Artist and Songwriter of the Year for her album Tug Of War.

Today, Carly Rae Jepson's popularity as a singer is spreading worldwide. She is becoming well-known across Canada, the United States and beyond. She made her American television debut on The Ellen DeGeneres Show when she sang "Call Me Maybe".

The single is now double-platinum! As well, "Call Me Maybe" is the first song by a Canadian artist to reach the top of the digital chart since Justin Bieber's "Baby" in 2010.

Justin Bieber Takes Notice of The Pop Singer

Recently, Justin Bieber, Selena Gomez and other Hollywood singers created their own music video of the song "Call Me Maybe". The video was uploaded by Big Time Rush's Carlos Pena. Now that's a promotional team with star power for the Canadian pop beauty!

The Pop Album Curiosity

The album Curiosity is based on one of life's greatest curiosities: love. The album has been described as a collection of "heart-on-sleeve pop songs". "Call Me Maybe" is about a new romance and its upbeat tempo speaks well of the eager, happy emotions that begin many new relationships.

The album also features Carly Rae Jepson's modern cover of the Joni Mitchell classic "Both Sides Now". Of the song, Jepson says, "I was definitely thinking Joni Mitchell meets dance... That's exactly what I want this record to be."
