The Advantages of Boat Shoes

Boat shoes are great footwear for many reasons. For women, it is nice to have the option of a shoe without a heel! The design is laid back rather than dressy yet has a cute look for ladies.

For men, the footwear style provides a casual option when runners don't suit the look or leather shoes appear too dressed up.

Boat shoes are also very easy to slip in and out of in a fast amount of time. While that benefit is similar to loafers, boat shoes have a more formal look than loafers. The bottoms of boat shoes are rugged as well, which gives them good traction on a variety of ground surfaces.

Colors and Color-Blocking

Color-blocking continues to trend in the fashion world for spring and summer 2012. The trend is even incorporated into boat shoes! Color-blocking refers to putting together two or more solid colors beside one another within one fashion piece.

Bright colors are big for spring and summer. Popping shades of red, orange, and yellow in particular are hot for the seasons. Apply the colors to shoes in addition to the outfit! Metallics such as gold are popular as well for the footwear.

Boat shoes in fun shades for men and women are a great way to step out of the brown and black footwear worn the rest of the year. Embrace the fun!

Spring/Summer Outfits

Women

For women, pair the boat shoes with brightly colored blouses and the pleated skirts that are also trending for spring and summer 2012. While long maxi skirts and shorter skirts are both in style, short skirts better suit boat shoes. The shoes provide a fun, relaxed look without a heel needed.

Men

For men, boat shoes can be worn during spring and summer with casual pants or with shorts. Roll up the cuff of jeans to show off the entire shoe and an even more relaxed look. In a conservative colour such as brown or black, the boat shoe can also be worn as "office casual". Pair the pants with a polo shirt for a classic look.
